Aaron Little - NCBR/Training & Employment Coordinator
In the National Child and Benefit Reinvestment program our focus is to provide training and research employment opportunities for Band members. We encourage Band members to be proactive by providing our office with their resumes and a cover letter that indicates their interests and skills. A major barrier to training or employment is members who do not possess a valid class 5 Driver’s License which most job postings require. We provide a number of training programs at no cost that assists our clients to become more employable, so please register.
It is the practice of Indian & Northern Affairs Canada to provide eligibility guidelines and this criteria usually prioritizes Social Assistance clients and low income individuals.
We are also looking at the mining sector and those companies that provide on the job training. This is an exciting potential career opportunity for our membership; however, the majority of new job opportunities are off‐reserve. It is important that when you provide us with your resume that you clearly indicate that you are available to relocate if necessary. Most opportunites are shift work in the northern parts of Alberta and Saskatchewan, however we do provide job start assistance to help get our clients on their feet.
