Carmen Little - Treaty Land Entitlement Coordinator

The focus of the Treaty Land Entitlement (TLE) is to successfully deliver a Settlement Agreement, based on negotiations over the past years, in principle for the review and ratification of the members of the Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation.

2012-2013 Results

  • Completed negotiations based on the 1992 TLE Framework Agreement with a new price per acre amount to be included to ensure    shortfall acres are able to be acquired by the Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation.
  • Delays on the part of Canada have forced ongoing meetings to clarify why the Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation has not received a settlement    Agreement for review and ratification by the Membership.
  • Objectives

  • Continue to meet with Canada to finalize negotiated terms of agreement so that Ahtahkakoop can receive an official Settlement offer to    present to membership for review and ratification
  • Seek out alternative options if Settlement Agreement is not offered to Ahtahkakoop in the current fiscal year so that the TLE process is    continued and ensure Canada’s obligations are upheld according to the Treaty signed in1876 by Chief Ahtahkakoop
  • Take a formal offer of Settlement from Canada to the membership of Ahtahkakoop for the ratification process by the end of the current     fiscal year
