KNOW YOUR STATUS (KYS)
Know Your Status is a Saskatchewan-wide initiative that aims to reduce the number of new HIV and Hepatitis C transmissions while connecting people living with HIV or Hepatitis C to treatment and care. Know Your Status promotes HIV and Hepatitis C testing as that is the only way to “know your status”.
SERVICES
COMMUNICABLE DISEASE
In the Communicable Disease program the KYS nurse receives and follows up with notifications, contract tracing and public health reporting for all required communicable diseases. The KYS nurse facilitates communication between clients and physicians. The KYS outreach workers act as a liaison between the community and the nurses, assisting them to find and contact clients. The KYS program works with community members to ensure their health and safety are being managed appropriately. In addition, the Communicable Disease Program provides on-site testing for HIV, Hepatitis C, syphilis, chlamydia and gonorrhea, Monday to Friday on a walk-in basis. The KYS Program can treat and/or manage these sexually transmitted blood borne infections in the community Health Centre.
KNOW YOUR STATUS PROGRAM
The Know your Status Program works with community members living with or at risk of acquiring HIV and/or Hepatitis C. This includes testing, treatment, case management and referrals. The Know Your Status Program provides the same HIV and Hepatitis C care that is offered in Urban areas which means the community members do not need to go elsewhere for their HIV or Hepatitis C care.
HARM REDUCTION PROGRAM
The goal of the Harm Reduction Program is to reduce the incidence of needle and methamphetamine pipe sharing that contributes to the transmission of communicable diseases such as HIV Hepatitis C. The program also offers condoms, dental damn, and educational resources. The program allows us the chance to build relationships with our most vulnerable, and eventually direct them into a healthier lifestyle while reducing ones harm to self and others. The Harm Reduction program is open Monday-Friday 8:00 A.M. - 4:00 P.M.
